Hello all,
I just built my new computer last night and am having two problems so far. The motherboard is a MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum. (specs below)
1. It will not boot when two DIMMs are installed in dual channel mode (slots 1&2 or slots 3&4). The computer WILL boot when only one DIMM is installed in slot 1. I was able to install Windows XP in this configuration. Has anyone else run into this problem and how did you fix it? Will a BIOS upgrade help?
2. There is another strange thing happening with this setup. I installed the CPU, stock heatsink/fan, and RAM into the motherboard then set it into the case while it was horizontal (case lying on it's side). I installed the graphics card, hard drive and CD-ROM. Then booted it and got it running while laying flat. If I shut it down and lift the case so that it's standing vertical the computer locks up (can't use ctrl-alt-del or power switch on case to reboot when this happens). If I shut down the power supply and then turn it back on while it is vertical the fans start up and the diagnostic LED's illuminate in a pattern indicating the board is trying to recognize my memory. If I lay the box horizontally on the table again, and boot it, the computer works fine. I actually tested this by booting it was laying horizontally. Then after Windows XP finished loading I lifted the case so that it was standing vertically and the comptuer locked when the incline reached around 30-45 degrees. Any ideas? I might try pulling the CPU and reseating it later when I get home. Otherwise I'm stumped.
If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!
