I am pretty new to oc'ing and a first post in this forum. I have been messing with my machine all day and cannot get the htt to go above 277. I have read a few things that state to turn off SATA 1 & 2, set the agp to 67, drop the memory to 100mhz, and drop the multi to 6. When I do all of this the board still caps at 277 stable. 280 will not even post. I am running a Venice 3000+ with 1GB OCZ EL Platinum Dual Channel. Maybe I am just overlooking something very small but any help would be appreciated.

PS - The OC guide that is in this forum is great.

It's not that you need to disable 1 and 2, it's that you shouldn't be using them if you OC (3 and 4 are locked, whereas 1 and 2 are not).

Is it possible you've just hit a wall with the RAM?

Could be your CPU will not go above 280?
What do you have the HT Frequency set to? I hope you have it to 3X.

This should be a sticky, I have the same board and I have the same problom. Thank god for a 10X multi on the 3200+, I did run a 3000+ in the board and I could not do nothing with it. Capped at 277 MHz FSB!!!

Mine tops out around 280-282. Can't remember which number exactly. I've seen a few other boards do about the same. The only one that I know of on AT that can hit over 300 HTT is Duvie's board.

353 was my record...after that I had a 50/50 bopot chance to 355 and then nothing after that...No mods done to this board....

I also HAD a Neo2 Platinum and was able to get my 3000+ venice to 300HTT (this was at stock HTT and chipset voltages) and I didn't try to go any higher so it shouldn't be the motherboard.

Thanks for all the replies. It seems to be a crap shoot at best. I will be happy with a 3000+ at 2.4. I was just curious about the limit I was reaching.I am thinking that I may go to a different board and a 3200+ in a short time. For overclocking, and general use, what board to you guys recommend? I know DFI is awesome but I am not sure if I need something like that since I don't want to oc to those extremes. I will be happy with a 3000+ at 2.4. I was just curious about the limit it had.

i got a 3500+ venice and I thought at least i could get to 2.6 but i couln't even with two different motherboards they capped out at the same clock speeds. both had pci/agp locks, but i've been told if these lock then so does the sata drives. I hope anyway, but it could be that i have limited voltage settings for my memory with both boards.
