MSI K8N Neo2 floppy problems

Well I just installed my new K8N Neo2 and have hit a couple snags. First of all, if I used the included red IDE cables to connect my hard drives they would not show up in the BIOS, it wouldn't even say "None" the spot would just be blank. So I changed the cable to one that I rounded myself and it works fine. Next, the floppy was acting up. I was using the red floppy cable and the floppy LED wouldn't come on and if i inserted a disc, the dive would spin for a few secs and stop (I took out the drive so I could see the bottom spin). So i switched the cable to another and now the LED is on constantly, and if i put in a floppy it does spin and keep spinning fine. But in windows if I try to access it, I get the "Please insert a disc into drive A:" message. (the same thing happened with the red cable when the drive wouldn't spin at all)

Knight,

Welcome to the Forums!

If your FDD light is always on, you have the ribbon cable connector reversed.
Check the MB & FDD headers for the correct polarity (cable stripe goes to pin #1).

I know thats what SHOULD be the problem (I've done it before, but who hasn't). But the cable only goes in one way because of the notch in the center of one of the sides. I guess I could try reversing it, but I don't think it will fit the other way.

Is the connector area on the back of the FDD keyed? Some merely have a pin header and you can flip the connector around.

If not, do you have another cable to try that has the notch on the correct side?
If not, take a side cutter and remove the notch from the cable connector.
