I have a MSI K8N Neo2 Plat. motherboard with bios 1.3. I am trying to overclock it with a 3000+ 939pin processor but am having troubles. Stock, my HT setting is at 5x, but need to turn it down to 4. Everytime I press enter to change the setting, my computer freezes once the window pops up ( no settings appear, just the box ). Here are my computer specs, if they are needed.

MSI Neo2 Plat.
3000 64bit 939 pin
512mb Corsair Value Ram
Antec 400w True Power
36gb Raptor
9700 Pro

Thanks,
Justin

Justin137,

I have the same problem with my K8N Neo2 Platinum and posted about this problem on 10/9/04. No responses as of yet, so I'm pretty much resigned to hoping that a future BIOS update will help (I'm already running v1.30). Heres' a link to my post on 109:

http://forums.anandtech.com/me...9&threadid=1413169

Anyway, I'm running an FX-53 "on air" (Thermaltake A1772 Venus 7) and, while the A1772 cools better than the stock HSF that came in the (retail) box I feel safer with just a mild OC (2,512MHz). So, with the mild OC I took the easy (i.e. "lazy") way out and left the HT bus at 5X (actually 1,005MHz) and just increased the Multiplier from "12X" to "12.5X" while leaving the "CPU FSB Frequency" at 200MHz.

Not ideal but it was my "workaround" the non-functioning HT Frequency menu option. Like I said, I'm hoping MSI will resolve this issue in a later BIOS revision. Good luck.

There's another thing you can do:

in the bios, highlight the HT option but don't press enter just use the + or - buttons!

Hope that works for you :)

Yeah I posted this yesterday, just use PageUp or PageDown (or -/+) to change it. Don't open the menu.

Thanks Dustswirl and ZobarStyl!
Sorry I'm just now replying thanks to you two - haven't checked the thread here for a long time. I actually got the HT Menu to work after I updated to BIOS v1.30. But like I said, many belated thanks!
