I was thinking about changing over to the MSI K8N Neo Platinum.
I currently own the MSI K8T NEO-FIS2R.
Would it end up being an upgrade, or would it be just a sidegrade?

Be an upgrade although I would save that money for a 939 board and chip for later in the year, since it the improvement would be drastic in features but below 10% in performance. If you wanna overclock though go for it. Should be easy enough to sell your current board.

Well I just upgraded to a A64 3200+ newcastle yesterday with this motherboard and its pretty good. I absolutly refused to buy another VIA chipset based board from my experiences with them in the late 90's on older AMD/Cyrix platforms.

The only problem is that it has a problem with the newer newcastle core. The temp. sensor reads 20C+ over your real temp. Too bad I didn't find this out until I had removed the motherboard 4+ times to reseat the heatsink and re-apply AS5. I'm using a Cooler Master Hyper 6 Heatsink w/ Dual Panaflo 12LA Fans in a Sonata case which is why I had to take the mobo out every single time :(

Hopefully MSI will have a bios update soon to fix the newcastle temp readings.

I've currently have it overclocked at 2.53Ghz @1.65 volts. 230FSB.
