MSI K8N Neo 2 Plat. w/corsair duel channel pc3200?

I have an MSI K8N Neo2 Plat. with 1G corsair duel channel pc3200 DDR400. I read this article on Digital-Daily about Corsair being incompatible in duel channel with the Neo 2. After reading it I checked to see if I'm on duel channel memory. When my pc POSTS I see it says 1G duel channel pc3200 DDR400. I gues I don't have the same problem that they had on digital daily. I'm confused now because the POST says my memory is at 200Mhz when it should be 400Mhz. Shouldn't it?

Can someone please tell how I can tell if I'm utilizing the full potential of my RAM of not.

Thanks..

Memory is actually at 200mhz, but since is DDR its effective 400mhz.

I have dual channel, and CPUz reports it running at 200mhz.

What do you mean? Are you saying the memory is set at 200mhz but can be increased to 400mhz?

In my bios, 200mhz is as high as it will go.

DDR. it's double the rate. 200mhz = 400mhz.

I run Corsair with my Neo2 Plat. No problems here.

DDR stands for Double Data Rate

So if your ram's speed is DDR400 which is your pc3200 then the ram speed is 200, but since its DDR, its doubled to 400mhz and that's where the numbers come from.

Someone else might have a better explanation

PC3200 runs at 200mhz. The memory "can write or read data on both the "rising" and "falling" edges of the source clock".

This makes it performance wise like it is "400mhz".

Here is an article about dual channel. This is debateable as far as how much bandwidth you actually gain, but dual channel can give you up to a 15% increase in your bandwidth.

When I tried the cpu-z it came back as my ram running at 157mhz and as a single? I'm going to check my dual channel banks but I am sure I have them in the right slots. I have a 2x512mb dual channel kingston kit installed so that shouldn't be the problem. Why is my ram running so slow?

EDIT: I have the same mobo as the original poster.

read the conclusion of the digital-daily review and it says kingston has the same duel channel problem.

Can someone please address the problem with duel channel and the MSI neo 2 mobo's?

That would be a problem MSI would have to address with a new BIOS most likely. This is very unfortunate as I bought a Neo2 Platinum & 939 processor to take advantage of the dual channel with some Corsair Xperts.

ya I'm confused cause when my computer posts I see Duel channel pc3200 DDR400, memory frequency at 200mhz.

I'll need to see what CPUZ says when I get home.
