Noob pc builder here and FIRST AMD rig.

Just got the K8N 4Neo SLI Platinum and the GIANT Zalman 7700 from ZZfly.

Zalman's website shows this unit is comapitible w/ this mobo, but after installing it, it overhangs the dimm 1 slot to where you can't pop in the memory stick (have 2x512mb Corsair pc3200xl)

I currently have the sticks in Dimm 3 (green "channel a) & Dimm 4 (purple channel b).

According to the manual in order to run dual channel, a stick must be in a green slot and purple slot which means they would be next to each other.

I'm a bit confused, as the P4 gigabyte mobo I just built had to have the memory in the SAME colored alternating spaced slots to run dual.

Can I procede to build and run it this way w/o a stick in Dimm1 or do I need to get a smaller cooling unit ?
Sorry for the noob questions.

I plan to OC my rig if I can figure out the AMD OCing formulas ( if I can get it together and working lol...)

Winchester 3500+
1gb (2 sticks) Corsair pc3200xl
BFG 6800gt (1 for now)
OCZ Powerstream 520
Silverstone Temjin TO6 (full tower w/ upside down mobo & windtunnel)
2x WD 120gb Caviars in RAID 0
Plextor 16x Sata DVD/DVDr

Does the Neo4 SLI have a different cpu/memory layout than the Neo4 Ultra? I have the Neo4 Ultra with the 7700, and I can use all dimm slots. The 7700 does partially block the first DIMM slot, but I can still get the memory module in without any difficult, just have to go in at a slight angle.

obvious question, but have u tried taking the heatsink off, slapping in the ram and putting it back. The fit around the first dimm was super tight on my a8n, but i did manage to get it in there with the heat sink on. At one point i resigned myself to the fact that i have to take it off, but managed to wrangle it in there somehow.
good luck.
