MSI K7T266 Pro2 Memory Benchmarks

I have been going over all the reviews I can find on this mobo, and I cannot figure out how they get the Sandra Memory Benchmarks that they do... I have been getting ALU=674/FPU=773 and the reviewers are posting like ALU=850/FPU=950. Does anyone have any idea why there would be such a difference? I have tried changing the BIOS memory settings for higher performance, but there appears to be very little (if any) gain.

My system:

MSI K&T266 Pro2
AthlonXP 1800+
512MB Crucial DDR
Visiontek GF3 Ti200
SoundBlaster Live! 5.1
TDK 12x burner
2 IBM 40Gb HD's in RAID 0
WinXP Pro

Anyway, I haven't been able to find an answer so let me know what you think!

hmm, I don't know about the KT266's but I have a AMD 761 that does 755/849. The AMD761 is supposed to perform about the same...

My P4X266 board scores like 1000/1100 @ default speeds. 🙂

Thanks for the replies! I have the latest version of Sandra that was available on CNET 2 days ago. Anyway, the computer is as stable as can be... which is better than alot of posts I've been reading about this mobo.

Yah I got horrendous scores on my MSI also. With FSB overclocked to 142 and all memory settings set to fastest i was getting scores similar to yours. I am returning the board and getting a Shuttle.

On buffered Sandra memory benchmark I am getting 2174/2040 @ 145 FSB using 768MB Crucial PC2100.

But the real question is... why? Why do the reviews all have higher memory scores? Why don't bios changes improve the scores? Why is the sky blue, and grass green? It's all a mystery.

Question: What affect do background apps have on the memory scores? I stopped most programs but there may be an item or two that is still running.
