MSI have posted an overclockers bios on their website:

http://www.msi.com.tw/support/bios/mainboard/6xxx/k7tpro2a/w6330v10b16.exe

It mentions 4way interleave enabled and higher voltagemods, I'm kinda hoping (dreaming? :) ) it will fix the multiplier problem. I'll flash it into my board as soon as I get home this afternoon and let ya know what happens...

Anyone else tried it yet?

MSI K7T Turbo

I think you may be happy with the results. The update also states:

"add ratio range below CPU normal ratio"

Can't test it, as I have an 8KTA3, but this sounds promising.

You're right. I missed the 'add ratio range below CPU normal ratio' bit, cause they've already released two overclockers bioses!

Tried the latest one (v1.6) and it didn't work, though :(
Flash-program mentioned "BIOS Lock String doesn't match your system" and then quit. I'll try v1.4, see what happens.

Has anyone else tried these bioses yet, or know what can be done about this error?

I haven't checked yet if it can be done in the first place, but overriding this protection and possibly messing up my board doesn't sound like a very good option to me.

Update:
Nope, doesn't work either :|
Strange thing (well, not so strange really) is that these files reside in the K7TPro2A directory. Must be regular Pro2A bioses then, and the MSI folks prolly forgot to change the BIOS Lock String to that identifying the Turbo board... My two cents.

Well, I'll wait a bit longer before bringing out the crayons. :D

Figured that one out myself too, but then why does MSI link to them from their Turbo BIOS page??? Pretty stupid mistake, I guess...

ok i just thought of something. I little while back there was rumors of the pro2-a actually being able to support a 133fsb. the rumors started after they released a bios that "had offical 133 support" Plus i think overclockers.com had some users and or rumors that people where running at a high bus and that the clock multiplier crystal with certain numbers on it actually supported 133 bus.

Now they just released this bios that allows you too lower the multiplier by default. Now why would they add this to the "overclockers bios" if all that will allow you to do on this board is underclock.

Just flashed this on my Pro2-A, noticed nice increase in RAM performance, Sandra shows about 20MB/s increase, not much difference in CPU performance. Will try tweaking a little and see what this bios can do!

Must be the 4way memory interleave thingy that's causing the performance increase on your board, SpongeBob.

So it looks like this is a Pro2A BIOS. Did it also increase your voltage and multiplier options? Cause then I can't wait til the REAL Turbo BIOS gets released. Should give a pretty good performance boost.

I mailed MSI, will let y'all know if/when I get a reply.

What I did notice is that I now have the multiplier options I lost when flashing from 2.0 to 2.2. Still only multipliers up to 12.5, voltage up to 1.85.

Are you guys mixing the Pro2A with the Turbo. Who has been able to flash the turbo?

maybe just a thought

You mean: first flash 1.4, then 1.6?
Tried that, doesn't work :(

I think (hope) MSI is working on a Turbo OC Bios, but forgot the finishing touches (i.e. put in the correct mobo identification code)

Hmmmm, well here is a clue. Do any of you boards say Ver.3?

Notice the site says: K7T Turbo (MS-6330 Ver3.0B)

My board says Ver.3, no 0B

I wonder if the first batches are not gonna be supported. :(

If you get the error 'This programs lock string does not match your BIO's'
use the switch /nbl to flash.

that coming from MSI.. I've sucessfully flashed from 2.4, to b16 bios using that method.

Wooooooooohoooooooooooooooo!!!

Can it be THIS simple??!!

*Geared my system back to 'default' multiplier
*Flashed the 1.6 BIOS with the /nbl switch
*restarted... And yesyesyes the multiplier range now goes from 5.5 to 12.5 :)

Running my T'Bird900 @ 7.5x137 right now :D

Thanx Iwishiwaselite! (IMHO you are just that.)

I had been using the first OC bios v1.0b14 till last nite . I flashed to the new OC bios V1.0b16. Flashed the reg old fashioned way.
no problems, has voltage up to 1.85 and multipliers down to like 6 didn't pay much attention to that as I use 10X.
The HDD sandra score is a bit better but that's about the only improvement I see.
My board has been near perfect from day 2 so I don't have alot of things that need fixing. I love mine.

PS: if any of you are going to have a fire sale on your Pro2-A please LMK

Does anyone know if this will work with the Turbo-R? If you go to the Turbo-R page, and click the BIOS icon, it shows that no BIOSes are available yet - just want to make sure so I don't trash my Promise RAID controller BIOS...

So this bios adds the lower multipliers, but does this also fix the problem
with the initial boot-up with default multiplier x 133 fbs? Does it still
try it every time, or does it now get the default multiplier from bios?
..is that problem even possible to fix with bios update?

habrie, you have 900mhz tbird running, have you connected the L6 bridge
that would lower the default multiplier to 7?

I think this thread is getting a little confusing. The header is for the Kt7Turbo, but it seems like the people here who have had success are doing this upgrade on their Pro2A boards. I looked at Iwishiwaselite's specs andit shows pro2a. Has anyone gotten this to work on a Turbo? Raid or non.

FredC and Hydrobum: as you could have read in my initial post, I have a Turbo and wanted to know if people got the BIOS working on it.
Works on my Turbo now. Alright?

mto81:
Boot with fsb100, set your multiplier to 7.5 or lower in BIOS
Then shut down, set fsb to 133 (i.e. remove the connector from J17) and boot again.
Done. No meddling with L6. :)

Duh! /nbl=no bios lock. :)

Thank you!

BTW, if you use the switches /cc/nbl, that will clear the cmos too.
