I have 256 Crucial CAS2 PC133 now, and was considering that empty slot. Darn, I got 128 of that for $16.50 shipped, if only.......I'm looking into more.

I'm mostly a surfer, some windows, and a little golf once in a while. Have heard XP's quick, but also wonder if I should carry all the extra baggage for my simple needs. Granted, if I get a burner, my OS needs may elevate.

Forgotten the stepping, but there is one for the 1 gig Duron that evidently will go straight to 1400. But then isn't that part of the beauty of this MB. It'll (like others) will take anything from the lowliest Duron to the best XP, and beyond. Hopefully, the .13 micron chips final arrival will tug .18 micron XPs prices down to my level. A chip in the realm of 1.3 w/full cache (1500-1600XP) is most attractive now. I can afford it now, but I'm too happy with my new setup. The anticipation is part of the fun too.

I had considered an Iwill KK266+, but at $100, no thanks. To boot, they were having a lot of bios problems relative to the XP chips. Like you, I'm delighted with this MB!

And my wife passes on her most heartfelt recommendation too. Actually, I take all the credit for doing such a fine job of building it for her, but who's counting anyway! Ha! :D Seriously, it is a nice board and was a fairly simple build with no troubles at all for me. Sometimes I get lucky...............!

Yes Buz, we all owe a duty to the gals in our lives, especially if they are nice enough to listen to our ranting and raving about our rigs. They provide a special Support function. Yesterday my friend wanted to type her first letter on her HP, so I shoved some paper in the new printer, pointed her at Wordpad, job done, and she's tickled. Now she's ready for Word.

Can't say how happy I am to be out of the MB research dept, reading reviews and threads till I'm bleary, postits and notes with all manner of model#s, etc now in the trash. Getting this MB going fine is so comforting. Good thing, cause now it's time to cut the grass, mix some concrete to fix winter damage and plant the new $200 tree the city just gave me.... knowing all the while fresh challenges are waiting at this desk. Thanks MSI, Newegg, Anandtech and, most of all, you guys!

Just thought I should chime in too, on the MSI K7T Turbo (MSI 6330). I have been running mine for about a year with a Duron 850 and it has been rock solid. My first (and only, so far) AMD system built and the MSI has worked great from the start. It does it all, games, photo editing, surfing, CD Burning, word processing and anything else we can think of. I have overclocked the 850 to 893, but don't really notice all that much difference, except in the temperature of the CPU, so usually leave it at default. (and no, that is not a bad word) I also run a pair of systems with the MSI-6309 motherboards based on the Via Apollo Pro 133a chipset (sometimes called the 694X) and they have likewise been very easy to set up and have been very reliable. Am in the process of putting together a system for my father in law and am trying a Biostar M6VCF board which also uses the same Via 694X chipset. Hope it goes together as easily as all my MSI based systems have. Anway, good to hear about other satisfied K7T Turbo users.

Now that you all are happy time to tweak.
I have the Raid version of this board (since last year) with modded 2.9 BIOS for full raid
I use Wpcredit to tweak the heck out of it
I overclock a 1G TB AXIA to 1.200 (14 x 10)
And with Crucial 512 Cas 2 SDRAM it really flies.
Only problem is I do not use it any more - My other DDR systems have taken over since! Yeah!

Installed XP, and have to say bootup and shutdown seem faster. Temps dropped a few degrees C.

Played with o/c a bit in bios, and have 950 Duron@1045 MHZ (9.5x110FSB). Temps remain around 43C. CPUmark99 from 81.4 to 85. Fooled with other settings, and either booted back to 1000 or default 950. Modest o/c, and expect will have to do L1 bridges to get higher.
