hey guys, i just got an MSI K7T Pro2A Motherboard, here are my specs on it: AMD Tbird 750, 512 SD Ram, 6gb HD, NVidia Geforce2 MX. I'm tryin to configure the onboard sound & it does not work! I've been workin on it for the last 5 hours to no avail. I'm running WindowsXP on it, clean install (did it twice, once with the Via 4-in-1 drivers, the other without.

Everything's Enabled in the BIOS, i've even mixed & matched, some on, some off, & still nothing. It doesn't even detect the sound chip. I used MSI's info utility, & it says NO sound chip found!!!

I've read forums on MSI, VIAhardware, & DEJA, and i couldn't find a resolution to this problem. Can anyone help?!?!?

btw, using latest bios, 3.3 & latest drivers.

did it, no go :-( Here's the weird thing, windows doesn't even automatically detect it. I have to manually add it in & i always get a yellow exclamation mark

Again, when i use MSI's info tool it says SOUND DEVICE NOT DETECTED!!

I have a soyo mobo with ac97. Did a fresh install of winxp and it loaded all the proper sound drivers no problem. If thesound is enabled in the bios, and windows just does not detect it, there is probably not too much you can do. First I would try loading windows with nothing but the video card and disable usb, etc. Maybe there is a conflict. Other than that it sounds like a problem chip onthe mobo.
