Hi, I am having problems with the SBLive and the MSI K7T Pro2-A mainboard.

I believe the two are incompatible with each other when you enable DMA.

But I don't want to sacrifice the performace of my harddrive, I rather go out and buy another soundcard.

I would like everyone to give this a try and let me know your results.

The stress test that I use is the following:

Open multiple sessions simultaniously of Windows Multimedia Player (this is only possible with version 6 of Windows Multimedia Player) playing a 5min mpg of some sort (eg.musicvideo).

Open around 10 and start moving them around and clicking on the bottom taskbar of these sessions.

This test stress tests sound access and Disk Access simultaneously.
Almost immediately or before a minute, your system will freeze with sound looping if your system is not "stable".

Again the only way I've found how to bypass this "freezing" is to either disable DMA or replace my sound card with another (which in my case I did, with a SB128PCI) for 100% stability.

Hi all,

I'm experiencing lockups when playing video clips from games (e.g. Baldur's Gate II demos a clip on Ice Wind Dale found in the CDROM Disc 1 as Promo.exe just double click and it will play).

However, I noticed that the lockup won't occur if I were to do the following:
1) Disable my sound card.
2) Copy the promo.exe file to the HDD and run it. The current lockup occurs if run from CDROM.

I've tried changing slots for my SBlive card, I've disabled onboard sound. I checked IRQ and SBLive seems to share IRQ with "IRQ Holder for PCI Steering" (this normal?)

Pls help...I'm having trouble installing Baldur's Gate II now because of this, since the setup always launches the demo. Also I need to know if any of my parts are faulty to cause this problem.....

Thanks in advance
