MSI K7T Pro2-A +DVD + DMA, any new updates?

I read several threads in mid January on probable MSI implementation problem with the Pro2-A and DMA support. Has anyone gotten any response from MSI on issue?

I am surprised to see that the VIA chipset based boards still have the IDE DMA problem with CD-ROM/DVD-ROM.

I have never been able to play IDE DVD ROM with DMA enabled on VIA Super 7 motherboards. I have also had some problem playing even audio CDs with DMA enabled on VIA based Super 7.

However, I was under the assumption that it must have been solved with the newer chipsets.

I have used Apollo Pro 133 & 133a, KT133, and KT133a since then, but I have always been using SCSI CD-ROM, DVD and CDR/W. Therefore, I never noticed it.

billmc,

I'm in the same spot. For what its worth, I just tried the following changes and I'm now seeing my burner and dvd player as dma & udma respectively. Won't be able to test it until tomorrow but thought I would pass it on in case its useful.

HD is still listed as PIO but the bug may only be in the Microsoft lists it (see no. 2 below).

1. Modded registry for udma/66

see "UDMA/66 ALL THE WAY" here. I think this is the fix referred to in MS Knowledgebase article Q260233. Hopefully someone else can verify one way or the other.

2. Made sure that udma is enabled in bios for both ide channels, left acpi on, disabled "o/s is pnp" as per the following MS articles.

Q269555 and Q252420.

Hate to throw this out without further checking but its late & I've got to go. Hope it helps!

FYI - Win2K, K7TPro2A, MSI 4in1 4.25(a), M/S default busmaster, Maxtor 30gb on IDE 0, TDK 12/10/32 is master on IDE1 & HiVal DVD/CD-Rom is slave.
