Which one is more picky when it comes to RAM? MSI or Asus?
I have a stick of 256 mg NEC PC133 CAS3 module which I want to use on either of these two mobos.... Anybody with experience?

Both are supposed to be reliable boards. The A7V is definitely better for overclocking, but I have heard that it has had issues with generic or value RAM. My roommate's MSI seems to work fine with value RAM.

If you are going to buy one of those two boards you could always try your ram if it does not work, you would then need to buy new ram,(you could always sell the old ram).

MSI has a great board don't get me wrong, I helped build one for a friend, but I'd prefer the A7V by FAR..

But I'd overclock a Duron in it up to 1GHz, aw hell I'd try so damn hard. I'd stick it in my fridge if I had too. So what if the condensation would eventually kill it.

:D :D :D

Forgot to vote MSI K7T PRO for the best stability, & ASUS A7V for overclocking,I`m sure the Abit fans of KT7 Will say different & they might be right.

Can any of you tell me which A7V's have the clock multiplier DIP switch?
Some say that the ones without the onboard sound have it.... Is this true?

Just got a K7T Pro with a 900 TBird running. Had no problems what so ever. Only crash I experienced was when I tried to run my Micron PC133 CAS 3 memory at CAS 2. Didn't plan to OC, but I am currently running at 963MHz, and haven't had any problems. CPU temp hasn' been over 38 deg C.

K7T Pro
Athlon TBird 900 (Retail version Heat Sink/Fan)
Artic Silver Thermal Compound
IBM GXP75 30GB
Matrox G400
Pioneer 16X DVD
Linksys 10/100
Advansys 3950UA SCSI card for Yamaha CD-RW drive
Builtin AC97 sound (for now)
Antec KS-188 case with 3 fans
