Just rebuilt my system. Have an old ATI 98Xpert (8mg), which is a good card, but I would like to move up the ladder a bit. Don't play a lot of games, do watch an occasional DVD. Would like to keep it under $150. I'm wondering what is compatabile with my motherboard/cpu, etc. Andy ideas. thanks!!

ATI is famous for the best DVD playback quality. Maybe get some kind of All-in-Wonder card.

Otherwise, a Voodoo3 has great 2D quality and is an all around reliable card, with the broadest support for games (including Glide games). It's a very solid, no fuss, card. Mpeg's look very nice on mine, and from what I hear, DVD's use the mpeg format, so I guess that means DVD playback looks fine, although I have never specifically used a DVD disk.
