MSI K7T and Duron 1.3 question

My backup system has a Msi K7T mobo. The multiplier only goes to 12.5. I'm wondering if I can unlock a Duron 1.3 and run it at 100x12.5 (1.25). Figured I'd ask to save me the hassle. The mobo's fsb increments are only 100-132 because the chipset is KT133 not KT133a.
What do you think?

Ok. How about the exact model board you have? This way an intelligent answer can be given.

There is no K7T Ultra.

There is :

K7T Master
K7T Pro
K7T Pro2
K7T Pro2a
K7T Turbo
K7T Turbo limited
K7T Turbo 2
K7TM Pro

Is it one of these boards?

your right, I did neglect to add the T to the board model.

K7T Pro is the board. Who knows where I got the ultra from?.?

Now that I've been corrected (and rightly so) Can I use the 1.3 underclocked in this board w/o having

You probably got it from the fact that everything they make now seems to be ultra this or that.

Any way though, you board only supports 200FSB. I would try the newest BIOS. It may give you XP/Morgan support to recognise the cpu's properties correctly. It may give you more multiplier support too.

Try that first and see if you get more multipliers.

That BIOS is the same as mine (K7T Turbo) so you may get the same multipliers I have.

Let us know what happened.

I may try it. However I've never flashed a bios before. I find the online bios feature of the KT3 board much easier.

I'll keep you posted.

I don't think I'm gonna risk it.
Not that important.
My daughter will kill me if I mess up.

thanks for the patience

Its not that hard on an MSI board. Very easy to do. Other boards give me chills when flashing.

I flash Asus all the time at work, and I've never had a problem.... flashed my MSI twice already too.. my K7T Turbo L.E.
I haven't touched my EPoX

I also flashed my Sotek.

I determined the bios I have as W6330MS Ver. 2. However I can't find version 2 in the bios's listed with MSI. Does it have to be Ver. 2 or can it be a different version as long as it's the 6330 board?

:)

Sorry I didn't get back sooner.

Just look up the board on MSI's website and download the newest one.
