MSI Eclipse first PCI-E x1 slot a bit useless?

I wanted to find out from someone with one of these boards whether the first PCI-e x1 slot is any use. Since from the pictures, it looks like only a vey short lenght card can be used due to the X58 chip heat sink being in the way.

Could not find anything in any of the reviews of this board that say one way or the other.

Or do long cards fit with enough clearance. I know this port gets used for the purpose built short, X-FI card. But I'm sure I would want to use this for another sound card in the future (1.3 HDMI support), but I bet they won't be short cards.

Anyway can anyone confirm one way or other?

This is assuming that you are not intending on tri-SLI.

Yes, I do have those kind of plans for the tha 3rd x16 slot, so was interested to see if I could fit full length cards (TV card) into the x1 slot next to the x58 cooler.
