MSI 845E Max & Retail P4 2.0A GHz HSF; Temps. too high?

Just curious people.

I purchased an MSI 845E MAX system board with a Retail Box P4 2.0A GHz.

Under the System Health in the Bios, I receive the readings that the cooling fan on the retail hsf is 2600 and the temps in 51C on idle. Is this reading normal with hsf and on the proc. itself?

What's the operating rpms on the retail box fan?

TIA

I don't know what it is about MSI but they seem to have problems reporting all sorts of things with their crappy products....My msi board reported 48c idle and 62c load (MSI Ultra ARU) with my 1.8@2.4 then I popped it into an asus mobo (same voltage) and got 39c idle and 52c load...I added AS2, but that would be a record if that alone changed that much....my epox mobo reports 41c idle and 52c load with a 1.6@2.66ghz and same vcore...

i have zero confidence in MSI products.....pc alert III and fuzzy Logic are crap!!!!

Are you sure you have latest bios???

Either MSI is right and everybody else is wrong in true temp reporting, or MSI just can't get it right...I think it is the latter likely...

I gotta check. I just got the board and other than these questionable readings, I'm pretty happy with what I got. I still have yet to add this system to my System Rigs page.

The bios version I had was 5.0. I recently flashd it up to 5.2. Either it seems that the retail stock fan isnt running fast enough or you could be right.

Thanks for the reply.
