I agree its lame, however that is how they chose to do things. IMO, the fact that they offer a $50 extra warranty upon checkout should have seemed odd and made you think perhaps that means they wont replace it without purchasing the warranty. You decided not to get the warranty, so you took a chance. Sucks but, sorry. Thats just my 2 cents.

Monarch definitely does a few things differently than others.....Im still waiting for a $295 refund back to my creditcard from a purchase back on May 10th. Still no refund yet and it is now JULY.

They are a good site and have good deals, but they definitely need to rework some things.

Most stores offer an extended warranty on stuff but still will return an item within 30 days no questions asked. To not replace a defective item within that time is lame. Monarch will never see my business. Good luck getting your refund back but you should have known about their policy of not refunding stuff bought online. Oh well it's only $295. Just my 2 cents.

And actually, I have ordered probably 50 items from them and I was aware their refunds take forever when I canceled and DID expect it. However this is the longest they have taken to do so. Your logic made no sense.

card was ordered on the 5th it was shipped to my work (arrived on the 7th) and stayed there until the 14th (I was in Vegas). The problem with the card started the first day i installed it. I never said it was dead it would show little squares all over the screen after 10 mins and then lock up when exiting the game it worked fine in 2d).

believe whatever you like. do you work for monarch because you sure seem to have taken a rather intense interest in my problem and seem to be defending monarch alot.

my bad yes it was purchased at compusa (hard to keep track with my rental business). I will check back tomorrow.

I guess i must strike the keyboard to hard that must be what breaks them 😉

I agree with mylok that this is crap. Just the fact that they charge $50 for a lame ass 6 month warranty is reason enough for me not to buy from them.

I RMA'd my Neo2 back to Monarch and it took 2 weeks for a replacement. I then had to RMA my Neo2 again (those of you who are/were Neo2 owners probably had the same luck), so I sent it back to MSI this time. I got a return in under 2 weeks.

So WTF is Monarch charging $50 for? So you can RMA thru them vice the manufacturer knowing that you'll get better and most likely even faster service if you just go thru the manufacturer directly? Monarch is a bunch of jackasses when it comes to RMA's.

well I guess I will find out if this is legal when my credit card company receives the dispute paper work. I may be wrong but I do believe the law requires a retailer (even an e-retailer) to supply a non DOA item before pushing it off to the manufacturer. Either way it is a very lame policy by Monarch. Adding the $50 for a warranty puts their prices way above such places as Newegg or Zipzoomfly.
 
this is very funny. if you goto monarchs site and look up the exact same MSI 7900GTX they have added the following to their warranty option.

"w/15 Day DOA Advanced Replacement"

that was not there when I ordered my card. hmmm

I just posted a review on resellerratings.com. At this point I am not sure what I am going to do. If I go the route of stoping payment then I am stuck with this defective card for a month or longer until it is resolved. Because the defective card would have to go back to monarch at some point. If I am unable to stop payment then it will be a month or more before I could send the card to MSI for RMA and who knows that could take another month. This really sucks after the rude emails from Monarch I really do not want to see them get away with this.
 
MSI sent me an email stating they will try to ship a new card considering the retailer's response. Out of this experience MSI has been great. 3yr warranty fast response. just avoid Monarch like the plague.
 
Be glad you have this problem with MSI, who is helping you out. I had an HIS X1900XTX go south on me in the first week that I purchased from Monarch... After doing some research I find out that HIS links back to Monarch for RMA, and Monarch links to HIS. Turns out the truth is somewhere in the middle, and that RMA for HIS is handled by the HIS distrubutor Lexycomp. I got Lexycomp to RMA my card, but they are still supposedly waiting for the replacement from HIS. ...Lexycomp received my card on May 10, and I call them up about once a week and talk to the same guy (the ONLY guy) working in their "RMA" department to see what the deal is... That's almost 2 months of waiting on a replacement for a $450+ video card that I owned for a week.

Honestly, I have mixed feelings about Monarch... They have the absolute best high end inventory of any retailer local to me, which is a definite plus. On the other hand, I have to pay sales tax becasue they are local to me. Their relatively new policy of charging money for what I consider to be a standard warrantee is a load of crap. It allows them to offer a competative price, but at the expense of standard services. I've pretty much decided that the only gear I will buy from Monarch going forward are cards from eVGA or BFG, who I know will RMA a defective card properly. It's a shame about HIS/Monarch too becasue that IceQ3 X1900XTX would be a sweet card at the price Monarch offers it for, but once you add the extra $50 for the warrantee it's a bit pricey and without it you're just risking too much money on a card that isn't backed by its manufacturer at all.

edit: HIS gets a big thumbs down from me all the way around. IMO, companies should do their own RMA's. Period.

that really blows, i also had a problem with my x1900xtx that took from april 14th (when ati recieved my card) until about a week ago (3 rma's to get a good card) I am really glad my xtx is working or i would be really pissed at this point. good luck with the HIS the cooler on that thing is awesome (when you get it back that is).
