I just purchased a MSI 6600GT video card. I was wondering is there any new software or a new firmware/driver by MSI that allows me to read the temprature on the video card.

what do you guys think of this Card? and what do some of you hhave the MSI 6600GT over clocked at.

Thanks

unfortunately MSI 6600GT doesn't come with a program that allows you to monitor the temps of your video card. I know leadtek does. With that said, perhaps you could use the latest Rivatuner and use their temp program.

Does the MSI even have a temp probe so if I was to get another software, will it read it.?

don't think so, but future nvidia drivers might have it. Don't worry man, I have the same problem as you. I own a MSI 6600GT AGP as well.

Do you have your 6600GT overclocked. if so at what settings? I wanna over clock it, but I want to know the limits before $200 go down the drain.

I have it running at 520/1045 but I think it could go higher. Just tinker around and don't worry about 200 bucks going down the drain because it won't. Your card will auto detect what settings it can't run overclocked on and will force you to lower/revert to whatever previous setting you had it on.

Have you guys tried to use riva-tuner or coolbits ? I always thought the "temp probe" was part of the core ref design, but i dont know for sure. I have the XFX card, I am able to get my temps in riva-tuner, and also in the Nvidia properties window ( only after turning that part of the driver on with the coolbits program, the regular forceware drivers did not have it)

Yes I have tried RIvatune, Coolbits and latest updates and nothing. :(
I don't even know if it has a temp probe in the core.

What are my other options, Can i put a temp prob, any external temp probles?

Wow thats odd. Just curious what does it say on the temp screens ? Does it just give you 0c ?

There are always external probes. If your MB doesnt have one, or if you need/want a fan controller or drivebay device they ususally come with external probes as well, like this one for example. They are not the most accurate things in the world, but should be close enough + good for showing temp changes normal vs overclocking etc.

I have the PCI-e version of this msi 6600gt and I can check the temp in the nvidia control panel. I have mine OC'd to 565/1140 and it hits about 60-62 after an hour or so of HL2. *Running the beta 67.03 drivers - Had some Far Cry issues so I went with no driver, guess I'm not sure if it helped or not because I also applied the Farcry 1.3 patch. One way or the other the combination of those two things helped a great deal.
