Hope this is in the right forum. If not, i apologize and would apprecaite anyone telling me which is the correct forim to use.

I need help badly. I tried overclocking my MSI 6195 by setting the speed to 120 Mhz and the cas setting to cas 2, saved to bios and then could not reboot. All I get is a black screen so I cannot get back into BIOS or anything else to change the speed and cas timimg.
I went to the MSI site to see how to recover the settings in BIOS and they were about as clear as mud. Here's whjat they said:

For AMI BIOS:
1. Rename the desired AMI BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM and save it on a floppy disk.
e.g. Rename A569MS23.ROM to AMIBOOT.ROM
2. Insert this floppy disk in the floppy drive. Turn On the system and press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update. It will read the AMIBOOT.ROM file and recover the BIOS from the A drive.
3. When 4 beeps are heard you may remove the floppy disk and restart the computer

I have no idea what file to rename since none are what the directions show. The files I have on the floppy are named:
a6195v1.7
a6195kms1.7
autoexe
amifl826

Can anyone tell me which to try renaming or any other way to recover the original BIOS settings? I am considering making 3 disks and renaming a different file on each to test, but I am afraid that might mess something up big time. Appreciate any assistance at all.

Disconnect power to the computer and move the jumper marked jbat from pins 1&2 to pins 2&3 for a few seconds then move it back and turn on your computer.Go into bios and reset your good settings.

Thanks, I will try that assuming I can find the right jumpers! I will let you know what happens. Bekker

Rushr, you da man! I got it fixed and only dropped the jumper 6 times! Thanks ... The reason I am messing with it is because I bought a 950 processor and had to update the BIOS to support it. Tried OCing mine to see if it would go past 750 and that's when it stopped. Thanks again! Bekker
