I've gone through 12 MSI boards in systems for customers and no complaints and no problems. I finally decieded to try a Asus board for my girlfriend. Big mistake. Bad ide port. And it wouldn't have been bad if it was the secondary, I mean, I could live with that, but it's the primary. So no boot. :(

Gotta go to the store and return if for something else. :(

I will never buy another Asus board again. I'm traumatized.

:D

Good lord man, you get one bad product and you write the company off for good? I've built ~20 systems on Asus boards w/o a problem.

On the other hand.... it really doesn't matter which of the ports is bad. If you really could overlook the primary, then you could also overlook the secondary. It really is the same thing, you CAN boot from it.

Um I wouldn't have minded the secondary. I would've used it for a little webserver. But the primary for a computer? Not really. :(

How am I a troll?

I've had a A7V go bad on me too. So it's my fault for buying Asus because my friends rant and rave about how stable it is, etc.

Hmmm, I mean there are others that won't buy MSI, but you don't see me calling them a troll. It's my decision what brand of motherboard to buy. So if you're going to come into my thread with the word "troll" rolling off your lips, stay out. :(

No offense to any Asus lovers out there. Just saying, I've had bad experiences with Asus and Plextor, go figure. :(

MSI makes some good boards... if i'm setting up a mid end system i usually go for them.

I have had zero problems with my last 3 ASUS boards and have installed close to 300 asus boards in systems in the past 5 years.

Failure rate for asus boards seems to be lower than most other boards i've used, but you know.. with any manufacturer you can get a bum board. Sorry about your luck.

Well, you cant say asus is bad off one board, because i have had doa msi's also. But i DO think MSI's are better. I even like these new ECS boards better then Asus right now.

I've gone thru 50+ Asus boards, and I had to RMA 3-4 of them. Is that a decent rma %?

All I've heard is good things about msi. I'm not really that impressed with asus, so maybe next time I'll consider something from msi or epox which I've also heard many good things about.

beleive me... this is not a flame.. but i dont see how anyone could seriously consider epox. After all the issues ive had dealing with epox boards in the past and reading about the problems ppl are having with the 8k7a... Thanks, but no thanks.

On a side note, i've only had to RMA an asus board two times. Once because my USB zip drive fried the southbridge and the other because the keyboard connector stopped working because the cable got stepped on one too many times. (i've used over 250 asus boards in systems at the store i worked at in high school)
