MSG4 any good?

ive played them all (mgs1 ps1, mgs twin snakes, mgs2, mgs3, mgs4) and they're all freaking fantastic.

definitely worth playing IMO. all 4 games in the series are amazing. screw the haters of each game (i know people who despise 2 and 4, and love 1 and 3, despise 3, love 2 and 4, etc) - they're all damned fun and good.

you must have a very limited library of games you have played to think this.

😛

EDIT: and i feel sorry for that!

What would you say is better for single player? Maybe Uncharted 2 or Mass Effect 2? GTA4 and Bioshock IMO were overrated. Bioshock was at least good, GTA4 was crap.

any resistance, any ratchet and clank game, god of war 1-3, heavenly sword, uncharted 1 and 2.

and those are only of the games i've played.

You like a completely different style of games. It's obvious from your selection. MGS4 is almost an RPG like action game. buying the series and expecting anything different is asking for dissapointment.

mgs1 and mgs2 (the ones i played) were not even close to an RPG.

neither is MGS4, dunno what you are talking about.

Never played resistance, but everything I've heard they're just typical shooters. I played one ratchet and clank and got bored after 4 levels, GoW3 is the only one from this generation, and I haven't gotten around to it. Heavenly Sword is a mediocre GoW ripoff, how could you seriously use that as an example? And I agree Uncharted 1&2 are up there. I just thought the varied gameplay, graphics, and sound in MGS4 trumped it.

yea i know heavenly sword is a mediocore rip off of gow, but it's fun.

mgs4 isn't fun. i (as others in this thread have as well) got so bored with the game that i didn't even finish it.

mgs4 is a sub par game imo, which would be below mediocore.

good thing opinions are like assholes, we all have em, and they all stinks!

There is a scene in MGS4 where three of the protagonists are absolutely swarmed by dozens of soliders in a tactically unfavorable environment. (They're completely surrounded, literally by 360 degrees, it being a circular room and they are in the middle. Also, IIRC they are trapped in the low ground because the room sloped downward toward the middle). There is a veritable torrent of bad guys flooding into the room.

Not only do the three protagonists survive this Kobayashi Maru, but during the looooong gun fight, a romantic relationship blossoms between two of them and they propose to each other.

In the middle of the aforementioned, impossible-to-survive gunfight.

That's pretty much all I have to say about this game.

(PS- if you're pissed because you consider this to be a spoiler, I don't care. It's like giving away the ending to Catwoman. Or National Treasure 2. If my actions save just one person from playing this game, I've made this world a better place. Heck, some of the gameplay elements were derived from the fact that you control an old man. Seriously. You have to deal with back aches and a bad heart. I am not even joking. Hideo Kojima's next game is rumored to be a sports game where you try to play soccer as Kevin James.)

Not only did you pick the only cheesy and stupid moment from the game, you also use the term "impossible-to-survive gunfight" in a game that features a bad guy who took over the body of another because his arm was replaced. There's a certain suspension of disbelief in works of fiction.

Msg4 is 18 bucks on newegg but after playing msg2 years ago I am a bit worried that this game might be more of the same. Does it have tons of very long cutscenes like msg2 had? For the people who played it, did you enjoy the game and how does it compare to the first one?

Start playing around with MSG and you might get attached to it.
