MSDN hashes - hash for Vista x64/x86

I just want to make sure my copies of windows are genuine and not tampered with. Is there anyone who knows what the proper hash for this version of windows is? all the info is in my last post (3 posts down)

if i go to msdn's page and try to find hashes i cant find anything on this release.

thanks i just did that but i cant find ALL thier releases. I downloaded vista x64 x86 with sp1 and my SHA1 is this: 1652f2458706aa4cef47473a6ed6899306c74aae

i can only find 1 release of this and it has a different hash.

any help?

sorry to raise this thread from the dead but where can i find all MSDN hashes?

Im like 90% sure that my version is untouched but i dont want to go and use this CD to fix someone's computer.

I googled this number: 1652f2458706aa4cef47473a6ed6899306c74aae and only got torrent sites and they say its an untouched MSDN download but no official microsoft pages.

If no one can find if this is legit, then is there at least a way to make sure that once i install this that it is safe? Like no hidden viruses or anything like that?

Unless you're an MSDN or TechNet subscriber, you WON'T find them anywhere. I can assure you your ISO is not valid. It may be an old beta build or something, however the image itself is not from any Microsoft distribution. Best case scenario, it was an ISO from Microsoft, which was burned, which someone took home and ripped (hence the hash mismatch). There is absolutely no way to guarantee your image as it did not come from Microsoft.

Tell your "friend" s/he is better off buying a legit copy of Vista or contacting the OEM for recovery media if the latter is actually an OEM install, rather than pirating Vista off a torrent.

I DID find an official x64 MSDN copy. I downloaded it through btjunkie. It has this hash: bdadc46a263a7bf67eb38609770e4fdbd05247cb which is the same as the one on the msdn page. So it is an untouched official copy.

I downloaded this x64/x86 copy so id have a 32 bit version if needed. I just cant clarify that it is an official copy from MSDN.

How hard is it for a technet subscriber to upload their copy that they downloaded to a torrent website and spread it that way....... Im sure thats how i got my first copy (x64) and im guessing thats how i got my second copy

Easy solution: download the necessary images directly from Microsoft. Then you don't have to worry about them being tampered with.

why don't you just use vlite to slip stream vista:

So? Become a Technet subscriber. If you're doing this for a living, it should be worth it, at only $349. Vista's license agreement doesn't allow you to obtain Microsoft's software from anyone but Microsoft & co. anyway:

whats the difference between technet and msdn? i wasnt gonna sign up because MSDN is like >$800 but for the price i might do technet

Would technet be an appropriate solution for a computer-repair business that has to re-install client systems that only have a COA/key, but lost their install media (or more likely, were never provided re-install media by their OEM). Do they carry OEM-specific editions of Windows, such as Dell OEM XP Pro, etc., that install/validate on Dell systems because of BIOS SLP data?

Also, is that $349 per year? That would be a bit exhorbitant for me, I don't service that many PCs a year to make up that sort of cost.
