I just did a reformat and a reinstall of win2k and installed office 2k and along with all my other stuff norton ext. anyway i saved a bunch of files on my other HD mp3s and papers that i didnt want deleted. then i reformated the other drive and moved teh filed back. when i went to open on of teh old word docs i get a message from norton saying "that this file is still inficted would you like to delete it". click no twice and it opens anyway. the thing is i did a full sys scan with norton 2k2 and it dosent say i have anything. even when i scan that specific file. wounderin if somethin fuced up in my word instalation or in te norton one? any help would be cool

Edit:
Actuall error message reads"The document c:\documents and settings\administrator\application data\microsoft\templates\normal.dot is still infected do you want to delete the file.?"

Thats what the norton error says. and i jurt uninstalled office and then reinstalled it. should i do the same with norton?

o and if you click yes to delete it says " word cannot open existing . and after ecisting there is a square box. then you hit ok and it opens a normal window for you. really strange. Power point and excell work fine along with all the other office things

Never had this kind of error but maybe you should try to uninstall Norton Antivirus, then "repair" Office 2k. Then try to open the file. If it works, reinstall Norton Antivirus and try to open that file again... Tell us the results!

uninstall norton and see if you can open them files. After that, try to save another copy of it (ie: rename it to something else) and delete the original file.

You might want to try opening it with wordpad too, see if you can open it. If its just plain text file, you should open it fine with some margin/spacing errors.

yea i know o could just use worpad but i write a lot of scentific papers. coolege and all. and that all have lots of graphs. and when i uninstalled norton i didnt get teh error because it was a norton error. and it hapens for all of my .doc files. i tried copying them and saving them again and that didnt work. like i said i will open up word for a new document and ill get a similar error.

If you create a new doc file in Word, the next time you open it, is it detecting a virus???

Also, you can send me one of youre old doc file to check... :p

Finally... well remove this damn Norton and work on your files... But we are not there yet, maybe there's still other possibilities... anyone???
