I'm sure that this will be an obvious notation, but as with anything MS releases there will be issues.
1: Activation What are we really sending to MS? Paraniod maybe, but it's viable.
2: It is suppose to create real problems for the web. There is a long article on the web about it.
Article
3: It will have feature so that others may access your PC remotely Cool feature, however what kind of hacking problems will this create?
Theory is that you have to give permission to let them do it, but a clever programmer could get around it I think.
4: Just a thought after the MS break in they changed the name of there OS and I am sure that they had to adjust there OS as well b/c I'm sure that the hackers taht did it also got a copy of the source code while they were there.
5: I certainly will not be buying it for at least a year. With every OS they release they take more control away from users that actually want to tweak things to there liking with out the wonderful wizards trying to think for them. Great features for those users that know very little. A pain for those of use who know what we are doing.

Actually, I've been running Windows XP for a while, and have been keeping up to date. I'd like to shatter a few of your myths, because most of them are just rumors.

1: Activation - So far in the beta activation hasn't been an issue. I'm sure there will be ways to get around it but don't place all your bets on it.

2: That thing with real problems for the web: I read that article a while ago. Theres just too much hype and the media is just trying to make it sound big. The issue with packets has been around for a long time, and there's nothing to worry about.

3: The Remote PC connection is very secure. Its encrypted, and can be disabled. Unless you had access to the computer you want to hack, you couldn't hack through it.

4: They didn't change the name of the OS. Whistler was the "codename". XP was the name they labeled it, along with Office XP. The old "neptune" project was cancelled in order to put more attention to whistler.

5: Why wouldn't you buy it for at least a year? There are some of us here who can't wait to get our hands on the real thing, me being one of them. Actually, I've been anticipating the release of whistler since the rumors about it first began over two years ago.

Either way, I can't make you change your mind, but I can share my own. So theres my 2 cents.

As long as it won't call home the only thing I dislike about Xp (though I REALLY dislike this) is product activation. I'll definately get a cracked copy (I'm going to get a copy anyways since I'm only going to purchase the liscense. Educational discount brings the price down to ~$50).
