I totally believe you!!! But no detection rates in any given anti malware app are 100%. I am currently using Norton IS, cause I like its elements more than others, its very configurable; I think it's brilliant, but mainly, its detection rates are close to the top of currently available suites...but still not 100%.

One reason I sometimes run Superantispy and MBAM. We work to achieve as close to 100% safety as we can.....but cause of what is out there, 100% is not fully achievable.

So far, I have actually never had a serious infection. A couple of trojans, a few BHOs snuck in, but I got rid of those right off. But I know from my friends whose systems I fix, that is an exception to what pervades.

Again, it was BRILLIANT U thought to run Combofix!!!!!:biggrin:

Totally agree...especially about me being BRILLIANT. I think Combofix can also fix other problems besides infections.

It did, in fact, reading yr account, strike me there are reasons it is called "COMBO." 😎

Really would, as always, be invaluable to know precisely wut the issue was!!!!

My take still, tho, is you were infected in some way, and, again, am sure I am not alone here in wanting to know the details.

It has now been confirmed, just via link above (I think that it is from 06 is moot), Combofix is able to do things no other app can do. But, it does appear it mainly deals with very sneaky, esoteric infections written to hide in unlikely places.
