The new accounts go onto servers that get no more than 100 accounts on them, and the uptime is guaranteed at 99.5% and so far (what we call the) premium servers have yet to have under 99.59%. http://www.dixiesys.com/index.php?display=premium shows uptime stats. The new style accounts really aren't meant nor intended to be compared to the budget hosting plans we offered on the older Dixiesys site (and still do on the new 8-95.com).

As for the DMCA I hate it, I hate it to heck and I think it is the absolute worst piece of legislation ever, well maybe 2nd worst, the CAN-SPAM act is pretty worthless too. But if Microsoft's goons sends you a notice you act, right away, not in a little while, not after you send an email to the owner and hope they respond "soon" - you act NOW. I watched Microsoft once spend roughly 1.5 million in lawyers' fees to sue a local company for $50,000 for selling Dell OEM copies of Windows 95. They had no less than 6 lawyers in Huntsville for no less than 6 months while the lawsuit progressed and the local company lost, $50K in fees to Microsoft. You do NOT screw with Microsoft nor do you give them the impression that you're in any way "stalling" when they send their notices. They can and they do, sue the everloving crap out of people knowing full well that $50K will hurt you 1000 times more than wasting a mere million or so will hurt them to pull off the lawsuit.

I completely understand, and thanks for being cooperative in this matter as well, Gary, I appreciate it. I don't want to make this look like it's Dixiesys's fault at all for this, it's between Microsoft and I. This thread was merely my thoughts on the slower service, which I remember to be fast. Thanks for your explanation, it seems logical.

You sure you're going to get RossMAN or minendo to host your illegal things that could potentially get them in trouble?

Hah -- I don't plan on having anything remotely like that on my site ever again. Some of the people on my forums post some questionable things, I guess I'm responsible for making sure none of that is posted, as well. I'm not sure what I'm going to do right now. One of my girlfriend's friends is a programmer at rackshack in Texas and he might hook me up with some free hosting, I might just get hosted from the ISP I work for (free), or I might go with some of Rossman's suggestions, who knows. Right now, my site just sits there with an error message on it, and I have hosting through dixiesys for a few more months. I might just not renew my domain this upcoming January and start from scratch with a new name. It's unfortunate that I made the mistake of doing this to begin with -- if you're hosting your own site, I suggest you be very careful about this kind of stuff so you don't find yourself in the same situation that I'm in.

I have no intentions of hosting Geekish Thoughts just referring him to another web host.

If I were in Dixiesys's place, I would have taken the exact same course of action.
