Yep, keys still work even after your subscription expires.

Yup, think I may have to renew. Any confirmation that Windows 7 will be included in this?

Same here. Same reasoning.

I got a call. A real coincidence because I was online at that very moment renewing it.

I don't see why it wouldn't be since the whole point of the sub is to get IT people to evaluate new software for their company.

I'm thinking about signing up for this myself since I have 5 PC's at home and another 10 or so I basically support in my immediatly family. Hopefully there will be another $99 deal, that seems awesome especially for so many copies of the software.

I think this is it. I've not seen anything remotely close to the deals we all got last year.

On your family's? Probably violates the license terms.

At home? Depends on what you do. If I recall (my sub expired), the terms are for testing, non-production situations. If you tinker at home, I think that's fine. The whole idea is for MS to drum up evangelists with this thing. Let IT folks test cheaply so that they recommend deploying it in the enterprise.

Personally, I never would've suggested Vista for desktop use had I not gotten Ultimate from Technet to test first. Even still, I think it's only worth doing on a desktop with 4+ gigs of RAM, but the product is better in my mind now than it was before.

For $99, MS won some business. For $249, I probably won't re-up.

you are supposed to use them for your development machines.

the keys do keep working after subs end and get renewed (you get new keys).

i'm assuming this is just msdn.

the only thing you dont get is office i believe.

No, its a little different.

The ONLY thing you don't get, as far as I can tell, are TS CALS. Office ultimate, and even terminal services keys for office, are included.

Homeserver was even added just a little while back, which is awesome.

My Technet Plus sub just expired. :(

Just before expiration, I requested and obtained 5 additional keys for Vista Ultimate which I have NOT used yet. I understand existing codes that I have already used will be good forever, but what about the keys I have not used yet? Will these still work for me now that my sub is expired?

I think they will. The keys should be valid forever once they are generated.

iirc it is for one user only. which is why you get 3 technet plus when you are certified/gold.

msdn is for development use. not for production just development.

MAPS is for internal use- mostly.

Evaluation Software. One user may install and use copies of the evaluation software listed in the COMPONENTS.TXT file, even if you obtained a server license. You may use the evaluation software only to evaluate it. You may not use it in a live operating, in a staging environment or with data that has not been sufficiently backed up. If the evaluation software comes with its own license agreement, this agreement will control. If that other license agreement gives you additional rights that do not conflict with express limitations in this agreement, you also have those rights.

certified/gold's $2495/year version lets one organization unit internal use almost all of the software

What is the normal price for renewing? My $99 subscription expires in a week.

Hmmm, maybe I'll have to check that out now. Never messed with it before.

I don't know the right answers per say, but this survey was for IT people who deal with small businesses or less. And I believe if you keep the answers consistent with that you should be okay. Also, make sure when it asks if you deal with the customer's directly, say yes. I think the first time through I said I was the CEO and I also got the thanks but no thanks message.

I've tried 25 times and can't get past the question about how many PCs your customers have. I've tried all of the options and quite a few combinations of them.

I pick strictly small, then home business and consumers when it asks what type of customer's I deal with. I'm too lazy to go through the survey and state every answer, but someone already PM'd me that they registered fine so I assume the link is still valid. And when I went through it a second time, I got as far as when they ask for my personal info before I aborted (did reicherb get that far?")

I filled out honest answers for my small consulting business, and got a subscription. It thinks I'm from United Kingdom though (I'm USA).
