In addition to the changes that are listed for the vulnerabilities that are described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS15-097, this security bulletin addresses a defense-in-depth update for the secdrv.sys driver, a third-party driver. The update turns off the service for the secdrv.sys driver. This may affect the ability to run some older games.

To learn more about the vulnerabilities, see Microsoft Security Bulletin MS15-097.
MS15-097 is a Remote Code Execution issue.

Once again, DRM makes it so paying customers must now find cracks to play the game they bought.

It would have been better had MS actually addressed this when the problem first showed up, forcing the developers to patch out the DRM or lose sales. Most of the affected games either aren't relevant or profitable enough to merit developer attention.

I think they have known about this security issue for a long time but looked the other way in silent assent, only to plug the hole when there was no financial risk.

I am not sure why Mircosoft isn't making their own anti-pirating efforts.

These kinds of DRM were essentially a virus. Removing them does show that MS is at least serious about security now.

Both a security issue and causes legit users to lose access to their games, It's not really any surprise that DRM actually causes paying customers to turn to piracy, such a waste of time and money, they'll never learn.
