MS Publisher - Cannot convert picture error message

Using MS Publisher 2000 to create a flyer. All pictures are formatted in *.jpg and or *.jpeg.

I get this message saying this:

"Publisher cannot convert this picture.

This is either because Publisher doesn't recognize the format of the picture you want to add or there was an error loading a graphic converter. Publisher has graphics converters that enable it to recognize most picture formats. Some of these converters may be missing. To install converters for word processors and graphics, please run Setup again. For information on running Setup, press F1 now. "

Here's what I did:

I went to setup again, and I clicked on Add and Remove Features. I clicked on the plus sign next to Converters and Filters and noticed some converters had sort of like a subscript 1 next to it. It means "Installed on First Use". I changed all the ones that has that "Installed on First Use" to "Run from my computer".

After that, I updated it, and then reinstalled it. It asked me to restart so I did, and tried to get back onto MS Publisher and still cannot insert picture from file (Insert > Picture > From File...)

So I re-installed another time. The result came the same. So I uninstalled MS Publisher and restart the computer. Installed MS Publisher again, same problem. All the converters were "Run from my computer".

Am I missing something here? I'm trying to insert pictures onto my MS Publisher work. That's all there is that I need help with.

Thanks in advance.

why not manually convert the files and then import into publisher?

yes it is hard to answer. who uses publisher anymore? just use word

Good point!

I was going to use Word as Plan B, however, I just wanted to see if anybody would answer my question.

The picture files are already converted. Jpeg files they are. I also converted them to bitmap. Same problem
occurs.

i've even trie dthe new publisher beta that was distributed with office 2003. it's still crap. ms has obviously put the product on the back burner and beefed up words capabilities. i would say use word or even powerpoint, but drop publisher from your repitiore (sp?)
