MS Outlook2k: How can I gain access to my PST file?

I recently copied my pst file from my laptop to my desktop and I'm having trouble opening the file in Outlook on my desktop. When this pst file was originally created, I did not set any passwords, encryption, or compression. This file should be accessible by anyone but it's not. When I try to open the file in outlook on my desktop, I get a message saying "inaccessible" or "insufficient rights" or something of the like. Is there any way I can gain access to this file again? Hacks, cracks, tricks, or tips? Thanks

Instead of just copying the PST file, try using the Export function in Outlook 2K instead and export to a PST file. It will ask you to set a password.

On your desktop machine, when you use the Import function to open your PST file, it should ask you for the password.

I've used this method to back up my PST files all the time, it should work.

Hope that help,

Too late to export. I already have the PST file on my desktop. The laptop is now at work. All I have to work with is a PST file that I can't open or import!! Thanks for the reply though. I did try and just import the data from the PST to a new PST but I received the same messages. No access or access denied. Thanks again,
