OK...I figured that something blew up when I saved my E-mails and E-mail addresses as a .pst file--I can't import them. I installed Office 2000 with SP1a under both WinMe and Win2k--no problem during installation...when I try to import my .pst files, I get a permission warning and nothing imports...I know how to set permissions under Win2k but it didn't solve the problem...I tried the same under WinMe (which I didn't know there were permissions) and got the same problems.

So, I lost all my E-mails...whatever. Here's my question...

I found commands as to how to have your downloaded E-mails show up in Outlook Express when under WinMe and also in Win2k (dual boot). To clarify...I know how to adjust the registry to allow for Outlook Express to "share" all downloaded E-mails over a dual boot system. I am wondering if you can do the same for Outlook. If so...please let me know how. Also, can someone point me to a link?

Thanks a lot.

jeez man, wish i could help, i am not an outlook expert, though. But a suggestion that might help: Get rid of ME and go for win2k only. Whats stopping you? Games?

No, I just reformatted--was running Win2k but was acting very Win9x like lately--decided to go ahead and dual boot.

Besides for my IE crashing 9000000 times a day under Me--it's not that bad.

In either case, I think I just screwed something up when I backed up my files.

Oh well.

Hope someone out there can help.

Master-hoss,

What you did wrong was to save your notes files in the PST format. If you have WinME installed what you should do in OE to export your notes files is run OE. Click on FILE/EXPORT.

If you have Win ME:
In the OE Export menu you will find a long list of formats or programs you can export your note files to. From that menu wizard simply select to which program listed you wish to export your files to and follow what the wizard tells you to do.

A super simple easy, no brainer thing to do and you muffed it. We can call your problem a USERS error.

I don't understand how you could lose all your old notes simply by copying them even to the wrong PST file format. Maybe after copying those note files in the wrong format without first checking to see if they would import to the other program you deleted your notes? If so that was a huge mistake if you had any idea those notes were of value to you.

Hope this helps you somewhat,

If I remember correctly when I wanted to export my OE notes I saved them to a SV file extension. I am not certain about that. Then they imported into OE on another computer.

Hmm, johnlog, thanks for the help but I have imported and exported .pst files SEVERAL hundereds of times without problems and or errors. Yup, .pst files. Secondly, I'm using Outlook--I don't use that weak & free Outlook Express stuff. Lastly, I did a format and a clean install of an entire Operating System. I went from Windows2000 Pro SP2 to WindowsMe/Windows2000 Pro SP2 dual boot.
