MS Outlook with multiple email accounts. Why is it so hard?

Is there a way to have a unified inbox? I just want all emails from multiple accounts to show up under one inbox instead of individually going into each account's inbox😕

you can add all your inboxes to favorites on the top of the left pane, and then collapse all the other inboxes under it

But you can't have them all in one inbox, that's what a BlackBerry is for 🙂

I'm not an Outlook expert, but I have been using it with my two long standing e-mails addresses (one with Google and the other with my ISP) for many years and all e-mails from both addresses go to a single Inbox (in Personal Folders). What surprised me is that when I decided to add a third XXX.outlook e-mail address, Outlook established a whole new set of folders for it (and I haven't found any way around that). I'm wondering if one of your two e-mail addresses is also a Microsoft one?

Yes, you can. Go into Outlook/Tools/Email Accounts... there you can add more email address to load into that specific Outlook profile. I have 3 separate profiles, one of which has 3 email addresses downloading into it. (This is with O'03 and OE, I would think MS would have maintained it through the newer versions of Outlook.)

If all email accounts are POP3, it is simple to do this. Just set the "Deliver new email to" option to be the same PST file for all accounts.

If the accounts are IMAP, then they have to use their own PST files.

It is funny how Outlook Express could do this very easily, but suffered from a maximum number of mailboxes it would check when you hit the Check All button. I wound up moving both my email and the wife's over to Mozilla's Thunderbird client.

In the prefs.js file I added a couple of lines to each mailbox pop section that directed all incoming mail to a default Inbox. Doing this made all other Inbox folders invisible (since they are not used). From the default Inbox only mail not following specific message rules land.

I have a mixture of POP and IMAP mailboxes in my Thunderbird client using a single, common Inbox, Sent and Draft folder set. In fact, I'm replicating my wife's setup to a second computer to use as a safe-viewing mailbox and she has 39 mailboxes and 1 Inbox.

I don't know why for something so simple, they can't or won't incorporate into the professional/paid version of their email client. Steve Ballmer

That's kinda horrible, separate accounts for separate contacts/reasons.

My biggest complain would be the way Outlook manages multiple accounts when compared to Lotus Notes.
Having 5 Tabs for 5 Mailboxes is great. Having a 3 mile long folder list sucks.
Yet Lotus doesnt let you transfer email from mailbox to mailbox 🙁

Havent found the perfect product yet 🙁
