Is there a setting whereby you can turn on the hover function over a button to tell you what is it....??

for example, i hover over the save button with my mouse cursor and it will say "save" How can you turn this back on as its currently turned off.... (I have looked at the options within both Excel and Word and in both instances... I can't find how to make this happen.

Any ideas?

To show pop-up descriptions for folder and desktop items

Open Folder Options in Control Panel.
Click the View tab.
Select the Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items check box.

this is just taken from the help index in Windows - hope it works.

ok this is going to sound weird but that option is already ticked. I have tried restoring to its default and also manually removing and adding but its still not working... any other suggestions?

hmm. try right-clicking on the desktop to bring up Display properties, and see if there are any applicable options listed under the "Effects" tab.

(they're called tooltips btw, as far as i know...)

edit: go into whatever office program you are using, ie. Word and do a help search for "tooltips". It should describe how to enable them.

cant find anything within the effects tab or the help function. 🙁 This is doing my head in. I am tempted to reinstall but I doubt it will solve the actual problem. 😡

cheers for the help
