MS Office 2000/2003 and Scanner

I have changed out one scanner for another, and office is displaying both scanners as available under the insert\picture\scanner/camera.

The problem is I can not seem to remove the old scanner from the list, and it is occasionally defaulting to the disconnected scanner and causing an error when it does.

Is there a means to remove the scanner from being selectable from ms office ?

I have removed all the previous software for the old scanner.

OS is xp sp2.

Is the old scanner still listed under Control Panel/Scanners and Cameras? If so can you delete/remove it?

No it is not. The only reference I can find for the old scanner is in office. Thatis why i am finding this as such an odd problem.

Nothing udner device manager, I removed the original software/drivers but office shows it as a selectable device.
