I am using an old Win7 box as "server" for media. It has several media HDs attached to it which are mapped on the MS Network.

I notice that the shared drives are disappearing after I logout, say when I log-in and out via remote desktop, after a while...poop! Need to log-in again to make the drives appear on the network.

I need them PERMANENTLY and always available once the PC booted.

Aren't network drives a per-user configuration? Alternatively, the other point that springs to mind is that when one sets up a network drive through the GUI, a tickbox is available (ticked by default I'm fairly sure) to ask whether to reconnect the drive on user login.

I would just use UNC paths instead (e.g. \\fileserver\sharename) where possible.

Check if computer maintenance is disabled. That sometimes cleans up Network shortcuts. Its possible that it could be cleaning up the mapped drives.

Yes, network drive mappings are per-user. They are not a global setting.
