Did a quick search and didn't see anything...
I dropped by the Reno CompUSA and grabbed an ad, saw they had the Microsoft MN-720 802.11g Wireless Notebook Adapter for $14.99 out the door. I grabbed one and there were still a couple left. It was in the weekly flier, so I guess this might be nationwide.

hmmm... when I originally posted this it showed Sacrament, N. Sacramento and Fresno as having them, but now all stores listed as OOS...

Portland, Oregon OOS

Weird, showing as in stock for me at both Tigard & Jantzen Beach using Zip of 97006. I picked one up earlier this evening.

You're right. They must have received a new shipment because both stores were OOS yesterday.

just a heads up, a few of my local officemax's were clearing out MS networking equipment too.

try looking on a clearance table, if you don't see them in the regular networking section.

Thanks OP! Got one here in Austin. Just in case there are other Austin-area members, the north store has 3 more left.

i found one comment on the web indicating this works with netstumbler

Can someone confirm that it does indeed work, meaning ALL features of netstumbler.
My current gigafast FAR 801.11b card does not indicate signal strength, for example.

thanks

for those that dont know what netstumbler is:

What is NetStumbler?
NetStumbler is a tool for Windows that allows you to detect Wireless
Local Area Networks (WLANs) using 802.11b, 802.11a and 802.11g.
It has many uses:
? Verify that your network is set up the way you intended.
? Find locations with poor coverage in your WLAN.
? Detect other networks that may be causing interference on
your network.
? Detect unauthorized "rogue" access points in your workplace.
? Help aim directional antennas for long-haul WLAN links.
? Use it recreationally for WarDriving.

It seems to work fine for me however I'm a new user of netstumbler so I don't know that ALL features work but I do get signal strength, noise, and snr.

Anybody got a good deal on a router to go with this?
While not a hot deal, I got a linksys WRT54G from Amazon for $52 after rebate, no tax or shipping... There is also the sveasoft firmware upgrade available for this router that adds quite a bit to the router, but haven't tried it yet.
