I have an old budget spreadsheet that I wrote up years ago and password protected because I sent it to my mom who is liable to delete certain things in it..

I have downloaded a few programs that claim to remove passwords but they didnt work at all.. do any of you have a good utility to get the job done?

thanks in advance, matt enderle

I had to get a crack for some old PDFs that I forgot the password to and the ElcomSoft stuff worked great. Haven't tried the one for Excel, but a demo is available.

There is VBA code available that will generate a "compatible" password for you. Or, if it isn't something too private, you can send it to me and I will open it up for you and send it back.

well its not something thats too personal because it imports data from another document, however i kinda want to know how to do it myself.. if you can do it you must have hte VBA file?
