Saw this @ CompUSA earlier today. Buy an MS Sidewinder product and get the Dual Strike Sidewinder free.

Microsoft seems to be giving these things out for free quite a bit. I wonder what is wrong with them? I have never seen MS give one product away for free so much.

Has anyone used one of these things? It looks funky, however, it looks like it could be very useful for Q3 or UT. If you buy two is one free since they are both technically sidewinders...

Eh - they are constructed well enough, but I always returned to the old mouse/keyboard standby, and eventually sold it on E-b4y for ~$15.

yeah i bought one used it and eb@yed it also....

as with any precise controller, u kinda have to tweak it and get used to it to make it work right....

i liked it and was able to use it for Unreal Tournament and keep roughly the same frag counts, and it allowed some moves that arent possible with mouse/keyboard...

i only returned it because it was like $40+ and I couldnt justify spending that much on something Id only use for UT

I have had two of these and they both broke within a few days. I think they are one of the most poorly made microsoft joysticks that I have ever used.

Hmm.

Buy a $30 Sidewinder joystick, get the Dual Strike free, then return the joystick. Done that before - when a GamePad Pro (a much more useful device, IMHO) came free with a Force Feedback Pro. They looked at my receipt, and said nothing about the $0.00 gamepad pro. :)

Not ETHICAL, no, but if the store doesn't catch it, not illegal.

I bought the Dual Strike from CompUSA for ~$40 to help my crack habit (actually, its my Counter-Strike habit...but I've come to equate the two... ;) ) Then a couple days later, Best Buy had their demo reduced for $14! Talked the salesman down to less than $10 since their demo didn't have box, instructions, install CD -- but I *knew* I did have that stuff at home... Burned the CD (hell, MS is GIVING the thing away,...right???!!!), repackaged the goods I purchased from CompUSA & returned back to them to get my $40 back.

Controller isn't bad...especially since I'm more joystick oriented (just put me on a spit and fry my a$$ if I'm expected to play with a keyboard/mouse...just ain't no good at it). Personally, I've been enjoying the controller. And it has enough buttons to map what I need to get the job done in the game...

CheapoMan, as stated above, I personally like the MS Side Winder Dual Strike. A C-S buddy of mine likes a combination he has mapped using the MS Sidewinder and his mouse (eliminated the keyboard). Best answer is try them (you get 14 days with CompUSA to try) and if you don't like them...return them...

My CompUSA (Pleasanton, on Hopyard Road) has a 15% restock fee if you open up the package... <sigh>
