Ms-dos with NTFS hdd

I need some help here. I need to flash firmware on some computer hardware of mine and it can only be done on ms dos. I know ms dos won't work with NTFS hdd so I converted part of my hdd into FAT32 with partition wizard. However. the ms dos 6.22 iso that I download from internet still won't recognize the hard drive that I have. What should I do?

Yep FAT32 is beyond the ability for MS DOS to read. Also if its an SATA drive it won't be able to find it. DOS hasn't been updated to support all the new hardware we have now. You'll want to find an old IDE drive. Your best bet would be to run it the old fashion way. Treat the system like an old 80's system that doesn't have a HDD. Boot from the disk and use another disk drive to uplaod the firmware.

so the drive with the files needed to flash the hardware need to be fat16 instead?

Yes if DOS is able to access the drive at all.

Have you tried a DOS emulator like DOSbox?

ok, let me update the info. The computer in question is using IDE cd rom and an IDE Hard drive. Drive C is formated into NTFS and I just converted 1 gig into Drive D with Fat16.

I downloaded MS-Dos 6.2 bootcd iso and burn it. I can get into dos that way but I can't access the hard drive. I tried cd c: and cd d: but no avail. One of the main issue is that for this to work, I must have access to the hard drive under native ms-dos enviroment for me to execute the software for the flash to happen.

goto bootdisk.com, and download one of bootdisk files for windows 98 or windows me. These bootdisk should give you access to a FAT32 partition. They also have a bootdisk for windows xp. I've never tried windows xp bootdisk before, it may or may not give you access to the ntfs partition.
