Ms-dos games on win98se

I have been playing some good old games on my Win98SE but it always seem to be leeching a lot of my system resources, causing my downloads to mess up while i am playing the games.The music and voice also sounds choppy and laggy sometimes and my favourite "Romance of The Three Kingdoms 3" can't even start!

Anyone can tell me what settings to change in order to remedy this annoying problem?

Play games first, then download later..That usually helps.😉

Yeah i can do that but can i mutli-task?
Dos games are not supposed to take up lots of resources, are they?=P

Win98SE is not great at multi-tasking,not like 2K/XP,for gaming it`s best not to download while playing DOS games.
For multi-tasking it`s always best to have lots of ram and fast cpu.
