This guy and his family sound like real winners.

Conyers is grooming his son to take over, sort of like the Kennedy dynasty.

I'm not opposed to pr0n in any form, but a little discretion is required. Also, when I browse a playboy I often end up reading the articles...some good stuff in there after you're done drooling over the hotties.

Webster would disagree with you:

"the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement"

"material (as in books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement"

Do I really need to justify my use of the word "porn" to describe Playboy magazine?

Are you that stupid, son? BOTH definitions have the word "behavior" right in them. Mere posing nude is NOT PORNOGRAPHY, you nitwit.

If you feel this way, why don't you try a test and let us know how it goes?

Buy the latest copy of Playboy, wander over to your nearest busy playground about the time school gets out, open it up and stare at the centerfold for about ten minutes, then flip to the inevitable girl on girl photo essay for another twenty or so minutes, lingering on the beaver shots.

If approached by ignorant parents or police, explain to them that what you are looking at is ART and not PORNOGRAPHY. Be prepared to defend your right to view lesbian sex photographs anywhere, anytime.

Be sure to wear your snazzy fedora to make the point that you are a free spirit.

Perk Perk Perk.......Playboy has not been "mere posing nude" for decades now. They may not be as raunchy as Hustler or Penthouse, but that magazine is littered with sex act depictions and erotic poses.

true.

One needs to look at the intent behind the pose.

All the brown cover mags intend for the posing to be P0rn. some of the mags take it to a greater/more offensive level.

Half the mags that are not brown cover that you see in the grocery store checkout aisle now come a whiskers breath to what Playboy started way back when.

The target here is not the men (although many men probably "buy" those mags for the bathroom reading) It is the female that wants to look like the covergirl. whip there bodies into the same shape so they can show off without having to remove that final piece of clothing to get the attention.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not but if a female posing nude and in obvious erotic poses is not intended to cause sexual excitement, I don't know what is.

I actually like this guy better knowing he looks at playboy.

Bingo. I'd be more likely to vote for someone who was like "yeah, I download lesbian porn off the internet all the time" as well. lol.

Some of our re-elected Congressmen still don't get it.

We have Charlie Rangel claiming ignorance of his tax evasion, we have Maxine Waters arguing that there is no case and we have Detroit Congressman John Conyers feeling free to indulge his tastes in Playboy's photographic excellence on a crowded airplane.

Yes, the common thread is that the rules just don't apply to our most senior elected officials, especially those in "safe" Democratic districts.

The next Congress will pit Tea Party members and newly energized Republicans against an old guard of entrenched Dem pols that have supped at the public trough for what seems like an interminable period. In that time, the tenured and snazzily dressed Dems have been wined, dined and kowtowed to such an extent that they believe they deserve a lifelong break for whatever transgressions they care to indulge in, including abysmal public behavior and a complete lack of social manners.

Obviously the job of removing clowns like Representative Conyers is not yet done.

A video of Mr. Conyers enjoying his Playboy.

This you're worried about while John Ensign and David Vitter are still in office?

-Pornography is defined so vaguely that all sorts of things are pornography to all sorts of different people.

""Depicting behavior intended to cause arousal" is almost any teenage girl around teenage guys. For that matter its almost anything around teenage guys. Ban em all I say.

What worries me is the hubris of power and the attitude that elected office renders a person immune from strictures of decency, honor and honesty and the acceptance and inevitable excuses of this phenomenon for those of your particular political persuasion.

Not sure if you're being intentionally retarded or not but please wake up and join the rest of us in 21st Century America where we let our women vote, our blacks take any seat on the bus they wish, and let Playboy, for only the past half a fucking century, be sold openly and legally.

It's NOT pornography, Leroy. If it were, it would be a fucking felony to send it through the US Mail. It may be considered porn in the creepazoid fundy cult you belong to, the Church of the Sadly Repressed, but US law and US society do not consider it to be.

Think otherwise? Why don't you try and start a lawsuit over Playboy being sent by US Mail and see how far you get, idiot?

It's people like you who pontificate in public and try to use the power of the Federal government to fuck with other citizen's private lives and then are busted "reaching out" in airport men's rooms.

I dont see porno listed as a restricted item. I'm more than willing to read any legit link you have saying otherwise.

and playboy, contrary to your opinion is porn, softcore as hell...but still 'pornography' aka adult material. reading or viewing materials as such, in view of the public, has been prosecuted before as indecent and against the law.

New York punished a man for watching porn in his car on the freeway because it was in the view of minors.

also, dont be so freakin inflammatory, geez

Nude still images are not "softcore pornography" just because they're nude or erotic in nature.

The court definition of pornography is "sexual behavior inteded to cause sexual arousal". Yes, that can include still pictures. However, a picture is not pornography simply because it has a nude woman in it. Similarly, a picture can be pornographic even if it contains no nudity at all.

It has been upheld many times that nudity is not, in and of itself, sexual. And Playboy's images are definitely not sexual in nature. Now, if the women were in masturbatory poses or simulating masturbation, that would fall under the "softcore pornography" label. But they're not. They may be more racy than they used to be (shaved pubic region, etc), but it's far from softcore porn (simulated sex, self-service).

While I do not think that Playboy is the devil, it's not really appropriate for viewing in a public place, even if you're not looking at the pictures in a way that everyone can see.

In my case, it's not about "think of the children"...it's more "have some fucking respect for those around you." In a public situation like that, you need to be respectful and realize that some people may not appreciate what you're doing. For instance, if you were to start singing on a plane...pretty sure people wouldn't be too happy about that. No difference.

Also, pornography is only restricted in the USPS if it's unsolicited.
