This is how you get fascism when the system is too fucking stupid and needs to be changed but instead you get politicians defending it.

Basically she married a guy named Smith, changed her name to Smith and then when she applied for a job, criminal check says she lied because someone named Smith had a conviction in 2009.. but she was not named Smith in 2009. They ignore that and say go sort it out with the DOJ.

California is supposed to be this beacon of light.. yet they penalize her for having a name like "Smith" and won't pay her backwages..

Also the school will still let her teach so even if the DUI was real it doesn't seem to be an issue. Just an excuse to pay someone less.
