Prime Minister Jean Chretien, an equally amusing public figure will be visiting George Bush at the White House tomorrow. For those Canadians out there, I'm sure "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" is gonna do a _really_ good joke on this one;)

BTW Apparently Mr. Bush's administration was of the opinion that Mexico is your biggest trading partner. Think again, us Canadians are:) Yup, $1.5 billion in trade per day between us nations.

I would hardly call Canadian PM a "foreign" leader...

Seriously!

Bush is an idiot that's all I have to say, I just hope he resigned or some crazy dude cap him before he do some REAL harm.. like get that missle defence bill passed.. or worst.. get the Eurpoean to do it!

we're in the 21st century, a missle defence is all bull sh!t.. I mean.. defence against WHO???

Building on old cold war hated and distrust.. wat is this? when everyone have missle defence the chances of a real nuke war is incresed because both sides thinks that they can get away w/ it without getting hit back.. man's final end.

man have nukes, deal w/ it, don't go makeing some stupid defence and think u can get away w/ it after blowing other people to bits... tha'ts what bush is thinking.. and that's not good for the country, and the world. I just hope our European friends would know better than let Bush do what he's doing.

Actually, Israel is the 51st State, but Canada certainly qualifies as 52nd. ;)

With a bit of luck Dubya might get us into that long-sought-after war with Canada we've (well, I've) always wanted. :p

Bush's first official foreign trip was to Mexico to meet with Vicente Fox. It has traditionally been to Canada but Mr. Bush felt that it was necessary to break this tradition to meet with Mexico since he is more familiar with that country. His first official foreign visit from a head of a state is this one with Jean Chretien. I'm telling you guys...I'm not sure if the press will be here but this'll be funny if they're asked questions. PM Jean Chretien is bright but as socially adept as a computer hacker, and well I'll reserve judgment for Mr. Bush because I've got to respect your choice for a leader (here in Canada we don't get to directly vote for our PM). Anyway, Chretien's going to talk about that missile defense plan (Canada's against it) and drilling in Alaska (against that too). It's also expected that Chretien will talk to Bush about how to approach the Summit of the Americas that is happening in Quebec this spring. The lefties here in Canada want to make it into another Seattle but Quebec (the city), as we are speaking is being fortified and there will be checkpoints (a la Middle East style) to prevent protesters from protesting - that's asking for trouble. That Summit of Americas will be Bush's first official outting to a significant event and the summit will talk about extending free trade into central and south america and privatizing things that have previously been held in the public domain: i.e. electicity utilities, water, education, health care (at least in Canada), etc. It'll be interesting to see how Bush approaches the arguments against globalization at this summit although I'm hedging my bets that he'll just dodge the questions.

hahah etech,

Sometimes I don't want to laugh. It could have been the stroke he had that has lead to some of these bloopers. At least that's what I'd like to think of the person leading Canada!

<< Poutine is the name of a popular Quebec dish of French fries, curds and gravy. >> - from etech article.

Just what exactly is a "curd"? I've heard of the "curds and weye" phrase from the nursery rhyme but my database lacks details on what a "curd" is....screenshots anyone????

JellyBaby,

I've eaten poutine and I always thought curds of cheese were just tiny pieces of cheese. Here's a picture but ughhhh they DO NOT look like that in poutine:

GL,

Holy cow! People actually put that stuff into their bodies?! Looks more like the material that regularly makes departures.

JellyBaby,

I was afraid to post that pic cuz it looks disgusting. The stuff I've been eating looks like shredded cheese practically. You put it on the fries and then put gravy on it, and it melts to a consistency of mozarella on pizza. Quite good but I'm sure it's not good for me;)

<< I don't know why all of these online pictures make it look so gross. >>

GL, the only reasonable conclusion I can find is that it IS gross. :p btw, that last picture looks like something pig farmers throw into the throughs! I think you're right: it can't be good for you.
