MPlayer for OSX

So I am using MPlayer version 2.0 for OSX.

The problem I am having is that it will not play new movie files.It plays older files fine, but when I attempt to play new files all I get is audio.

By new files I mean files I have dled in the past few weeks. I am not really sure when this happend as I have not had time to mess around with my mac lately.

This on OSX 10.3.9

Try vlc. It seems to work better than mplayer for me.

I would guess that the new files have a different codec and your mplayer installation doesn't have a decoder for that codec.

The solution is usually to use binary codecs; but since you're not on x86...

Find every codec you can currently on your system.

Waitaminute... MPlayer 2.0? MPlayer hasn't even gone 1.0 yet!

Just use VLC.

gonna try vlc. I am glad i thought of that.

edit:

Tried vlc.It would not play the file either.But it did give me the following error.

main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `WMV3'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

So atleast I know the problem now.
