Mpeg4 in Windows Movie Maker

Hi all-
Average guy here. I have a digital video cam that uses mpeg4 format. Tried to create a video in WMM, but no banana - won't recognize. What can I do?

Short answer: don't use WMM 🙂

It's hardly capable of editing DV, let alone MPEG-4 Video.

I'm not sure which apps will natively edit MPEG-4. You might try AviDemux, as I know it will, but it's not full featured non-linear editor. It's more like VirtualDub

AviDemux is the best choice for an amatuer like myself then? Just want to make some easy video compilations, add some music, etc.
thx

I gave AviDemux a whirl for a few hours last night. Couldn't even get part way through my video. I find it too complex for my needs. It also crashed a few times.
I'm sure it's a fine program, but I need something intuitive and simple.
What I tried of WMM was great, the drag and drop, icons, etc. It just can't use MPEG4, etc. Anything like that available?

Hmm..

It's a tough thing. For even basic functionality, you pretty much need an NLE.

iMovie on the mac would be perfect 🙂

You could download a trial of Adobe Premiere.. It's amazing...
