mpeg \ mpg editor?

Anyone know of a good, either free or cheap, editor for mpg files that allow cutting, specifically one that will let me cut frames or commercials and then put it back together? I have TMPG which lets me do that when making DVDs but as far as I know it doesn't allow me to clip the mpg and save it.

I searched AT for mpg editor and came up with zip.

VirtualDub will do it, but only saves as .avi, iirc
so its faster if the source file is AVI, then you can run direct stream copy, i think? its been a while
