MPEG Encoding

Hi all,

I am looking for a review site or some recommendations on MPEG encoders. I want to be able to take some of my VCR tapes and convert them to MPEG2 so I can store them on my computer or burn them to a DVD. Anand just did an article on WinXP MCE and mentioned a couple of boards. Would these work for what I want to do?

Thanks!
Jason

Depending on your level of sophistication and amount of VCR tapes to convert, you have two options

Software -- look at vcdhelp.com. Typically 1/6 the speed (with AXP2000 or smth). TMPGEnc, NeroExpress, CCE
Hardware -- capture and encode in one step, realtime. Like this one

So the first choice is Hard vs Soft. More decisions will follow.
