I have two MPEGS, both ~7.5GBs, which are home movies recorded using a Hauppuage PVR-150. My difficulty is that I have unsuccessfully used Ulead DVD Movie Factory, Windows Movie Maker, WinAvi DVD Convertor and Nero Vision/Recode to convert the MPEGS to DVD format. In each instance, the program either gives an error message or stops at some random percentage.

Any opinions/suggestions?

Thank you

I've got the Hauppuage PVR-150 also and convert my recorded shows to DVD with the Ulead DVD Movie Factory with no problems. I haven't tried one that large though. It should work. Maybe you have a problem other than the software.

I use Smartsoft Video Converter Pro - a free triel - final only $39.+. It does multiple conversions, and is a snap to use.

How many minutes is each 7.5 GB MPEG?

(do you remember what sort of target and maximal encode rates you chose? If they are above 8, it may not be MPEG-2 DVD compliant?)

Try DIKO. It's free, and uses AviSynth, which basically renders using your installed codecs and outputs as a fake AVI file. As long as you can view it on your computer you can convert it using DIKO. Just use the DirectShow option and you'll be fine.
